Falls Creek Winter Countdown!
Last week we had our first snowfall for 2019 – Let the countdown begin!
The first snowfall always brings a change of atmosphere up here in Falls Creek as the air becomes crisp and the excitement builds for the impending snow season.
There is nothing more beautiful than a white dusting on the ground and trees to remind us that Falls Creek will once again become our winter wonderland.
So here are a few tips for you to think about while researching and booking your holiday!
1. Dates
Always a tricky one – no one can predict the weather – let alone the Falls Creek weather!
This graph from Falls Creek Resort Management outlines the average snow depths through the seasons. Peak season you are most likely to be guaranteed snow but it also comes with higher prices. So it really depends on what you are looking for.
For young families and beginners, we always recommend Sunny September. The weather is a little bit kinder and so are the prices!
2. Falls Creek Accommodation
So many options!
Falls Creek is one of the few Australian resorts where you can stay in a village that is Ski In, Ski Out – straight from your door.
Falls Creek has a range of accommodation types lodges, apartments, hotels for every style and budget.
Check out Alpine Apartments or Falls Creek Reservation Centre, these guys know their stuff and will help match you with the right place.
3. Falls Creek Lift Tickets
As with most things these days, if you pre-purchase your lift passes online you will receive a discount. Pricing is still being set for 2019 so stayed tuned at Falls Creek Ski Lifts for updates.
Also if you are a beginner check out the Beginner ticket! They are cheaper, restrict where you ski (you won’t need it anyway) and include a first-time lesson! Falls Creek Ski Lifts rarely advertise these tickets so best to call direct on 03 5758 1000.
4. Falls Creek Rental
Now you can’t ski and board without ski and snowboard equipment and this could break or make your holiday. If you don’t have quality equipment that is fitted correctly your feet and even your progress will suffer.
